Day 1 – Arrival at Caracas
Welcome to the bustling capital of Venezuela! After your arrival at the airport, you are taken to your Hotel the VIP *** by your English speaking tour guide. Your hotel is surrounded by a nice garden and situated in a quiet area of the city where you may recover from the long flight. (-/-/-)
Day 2 – City Tour Caracas & Flight to Puerto Ordaz
After breakfast, you start your city tour through Caracas. Besides the Plaza Bolivar as well as the birthday house of Simon Bolivar, you also visit the congress building. Then you can spend some time shopping before you are taken to the airport where your plane to Puerto Ordaz is already waiting for you. Here you spend the night in the Hotel Mara Inn ***. (B/-/-)
Day 3 – Transfer to Delta Orinoco – Camp Mis Palafitos
This morning you start your journey to the Delta Orinoco on a fluvial route. You travel through Caño Manamo and enter into the majestic Delta zone scenery surrounded by the splendid flora and fauna hydrograph of the tropical forest until your arrival at Camp “Mis Palafitos” . After you have made yourself comfortable in your lodge, you will row around the facilities of the camp and go on strolls in canoe to observe flora and fauna species. Then you will be served a delicious lunch and have some time to rest. In the afternoon you visit some communities of the Warao ethnic groups to closely take a look at their way of living and rural customs. You are welcome to acquire fine artisan products woven with moriche palm, wood-carving and native jewellery there. Furthermore you go on an extensive route through several waterways. If you are lucky you will observe diverse fauna species like otters, snakes, river dolphins, Araguato monkeys, herons, chachalacas, toucans, parrots and macaws as well as a great variety of plants. Back at the camp you are free to take a bath at the small beach before dinner is served. (B/L/D)
Day 4 – Delta Orinoco – Camp Mis Palafitos
After breakfast you start a fluvial journey through several waterways. During this trip you will learn to capture piranhas guided by Waraos. These experts will also guide you during your walk in the forest. Here you can closely observe the flora and the fauna, prove some fruits and learn some wise millenarian customs of the native aborigines of the zone for their survival in the jungle. Furthermore you will sail to Caño Bujana and visit the lodge. After that you stop over the splendid waters of Caño Manamo to enjoy the sunset in this majestic landscape. You live in perfect harmony with nature and in the nights you are caught by the mysterious sounds of the jungle and the warm tropical breeze. Tonight you stay in the same camp as the night before. Day 5 – Transfer to Puerto Ordaz
At dawn, you will have to say good-bye to this beautiful natural hegemony that rules the environment of the camp. After some coffee and a typical breakfast, you get on the boats. On your route back you will make some interesting shut downs. At the port your private transfer to Puerto Ordaz is already awaiting you. This night you spend again in the Hotel Mara Inn. (B/-/-)
Day 6 – Transfer to Gran Sabana
After breakfast you will start your trip to Gran Sabana from Puerto Ordaz. Before heading south to the Gran Sabana you will stop at Cachamay Park located on the Caroni River. A place with lush vegetation and water falls great for refreshing and picture taking.
From here you will continue through the towns of Upata, Guasipati, El Callao, Tumeremo and El Dorado which all have a gold mining history. In Tumeremo you stop for lunch á la carte. After passing El Dorado and going through the mining village of KM 88 you will stop briefly at the Natural Monument "Piedra de La Virgen". Local people say that the silhouette of a woman can be seen on the rock's surface. From here you make the final leg of Day 1 and reach the northern sector of the Gran Sabana at 1.400 meters above sea level. You will spend your first night at a modest lodge in Rapidos de Kamoiran in double occupancy rooms with private bath and showers (no warm water). (B/L/D)
Day 7 – Gran Sabana
After breakfast you will go to the indigenous village of Liworibo. From here a 30-minute trip by motorized curiara (a native canoe) will take you to Chinakmeru, a water fall popularly known as Aponwao. With a height of 106 meters it is the highest in the Gran Sabana. After enjoying the site and taking pictures of the falls you walk back to the village, and on the way you stop at Pozo Escondido and Pozo de Los Enamorados, two water holes where you eat your picnic lunch and take a refreshing bath in the cool water - so do not forget to bring your swimsuit! In the afternoon you head back to Rapidos de Kamoiran where you will stay in the same lodge as the night before. (B/BL/D)
Day 8 – Gran Sabana
Today your trip continues to Santa Elena de Uairen stopping occasionally to visit interesting places like Salto Kawi, Salto Kama-Meru, Mirador El Oso (a lookout point from where you can take pictures of the tepuis), Quebrada Arapan, Quebrada Soroape (stop for picnic lunch). Later you stop at Rio Yuruani and Quebrada El Jaspe, a stream and water fall with a beautiful red jasper floor. To end the day you take a quick jump to the border of Brasil where you can browse and shop for souvenirs. The night you spend at pleasant Camp Yakoo where you enjoy dinner and the silence of the sabana. Accommodations will be in double rooms with hot running water. (B/L/D)
Day 9 – Transfer to Ciudad Bolivar
After breakfast you start your trip back to Ciudad Bolivar. On the way you stop for lunch at a typical restaurant. In Ciudad Bolivar you return to the Posada Casa Grande***, where you will spend the night. (B/L/-)
Day 10 – Flight over the "Angel Fall (Salto Angel)" – Canaima National Park
Early in the morning, you head to the airport. Your flight in a bush plane lasts some 90 minutes, crossing the Gran Sabana, raging torrents and colorful Indian villages until finally the first table mountain appears on the horizon. Tension mounts! Your pilot checks the weather, hoping you will be lucky today. Then the plane leaves the clouds and all of a sudden you can see it, just below you: Salto Angel, the highest waterfall on earth! You take a quick shot with your camera and dive again into the clouds.
After landing you continue to the nice Sapo Fall and to Canaima, only reachable by plane or dugout. The Indian village has some 1,200 inhabitants, which makes it the largest village in the 30,000 km² national park. In 1994, UNESCO declared it a World Natural Heritage Site as one of the largest national parks in the world. Tonight you stay at the Camp Morichal Canaima ***. (B/L/D)
Day 11 – Canaima – Flight to Ciudad Bolivar
In the morning you have some free time e.g. for shopping or relaxing at the lagoon. At around 14:00pm you start your trip back to the landing strip and fly back to Ciudad Bolivar. Here you return to the Posada Casa Grande ***, where you will spend the night. (B/-/-)
Day 12 – Transfer to Puerto la Cruz
After breakfast you head to Puerto la Cruz which takes you about 4 ½ hours to get there. Then the most relaxing part of your holiday starts: beach time in Venezuela. The night you spend in Hotel Punta Palma *** in Puerto la Cruz. (B/-/-)
Day 13 – Puerto la Cruz
Spend the last days of your vacation relaxing on the beach. But there are also other possibilities: For example, you can go on a boat trip and explore various islands, go snorkeling or rent a car to drive along the beautiful coast line. If you are a shopping fan you can stroll around the shopping mall of Puerto la Cruz. Tonight you stay at the same hotel as the night before. (B/-/-)
Day 14 – Flight Barcelona – Caracas
The time has come to say goodbye to this unique pearl of Venezuela. After breakfast you are taken to the airport of Barcelona and fly back to Caracas. Of course, your English speaking tour guide assists you with the check-in at Caracas
